Soil genesis and geography; mountain soils and ecosystems; natural hazards as soil forming factors in the mountains; land use transformation; human society - mountain environment interrelations; evolution of hydromorphic soils and landscapes. Study areas: Far East, the Caucasus, East European Plain, Northern Appalachians, Stara Planina.
